Default Imagine our modern world with no guns

This day, today, guns just disappeared. What would the world become like?

Well, armies would be using even more explosives.

Domestically, murder would probably go down, though.
    Go to sleep, iguana.

We'd be overrun by rampaging savages. Good job someone invented the gun to put a few rounds in the plebs when they get out of line. Spears and shields were very inefficient.

If the savage plebian horde is big enough and hungry enough then guns would not stop them. Sure they may become docile when they witness a few of their number be put down in a show of authority but they may become like cornered animals, striking back at their opponent even if it is against their self-preservation to do so. Charging like one beast with brain absentee they may overcome the upstanding citizen who ultimately is waving a gun like a giant penis.

Watch a zombie film or two. Guns are not infallible, they are limited to the ability for the user to fire and their own number of bullets.

I live in the UK and AFAIK the police do not have guns. There isn't apocalyptic ramage even though at a few million people would meet the criteria for "mindless savage." But then most people have socially conditioned inhibitions which keeps them in check.

Short term, that would probably cause some major embarrassment throughout the world's armed forces (armies, police, etc.). But in the long term, I think it wouldn't change much - you know, guns don't kill people and all.

Total and complete elimination of guns, huh? Well, I know people such as myself would be a lot happier, as our weapon of choice would suddenly become far more practical/effective. I really don't think that violent crime would change all that much, though. Its form might change a bit though. It would be interesting if no one had guns though.
