That's generally how I feel. In the past, I would sign my real name in PM with people I trusted, just to extend an overture of deeper friendship. Everyone else got stuck using my username.

(Yes, my username change last year sort of blew that whole philosophy out the water, but my needs at that point were different and there's still not an easy way to tie first names to RL... so I don't consider it as big a deal for me.)

The funny thing is that people still call me "wolf" in person when they meet me. In fact, I usually have a harder time remembering real names than usernames, particularly with larger groups.

I included some mispronunciations that little kids have made when saying my name... Apparently cafe is not immune to this.

Haha I actually feel weird when people call me by my real name, because NO one ever does. My dad always refers to me by grumpy, precious baby daughter, hungry (because i always say i'm hungry) or large daughter (as opposed to my sister who is small daughter)
My boyfriend only calls me by name if he is upset with me. Otherwise i am referred to by some pet name like honey, or baby.
So you can just call me scanty

It was cute. I don't mind. I'll answer to just about anything that isn't outright insulting.

I can't actually pronounce your screen name correctly without effort. My accent mangles a lot of sounds so wolf usually comes out sounding like "woof."

My brothers both call me "Sis." When the call me Heather it's like one of my kids calling me Heather, it sounds really weird and almost rude.

My husband and I only call each other by our first names when we aren't getting the other's attention using our usual pet names. Like when you're stranded in the bathroom with no toilet paper or something.
“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.”

Yeah but she said if over and over. She really took to you. She asked me yesterday, "Where's Heathor?"

As for nicknames my husband been calling me "Juicy" lately. Sometime ba-donka-donk. Isn't he sweet?

I've been more open in here than I would let myself to be in real life, tho I'm awfully open in there, too. So the opportunity is gone

This little cyberspace meeting the regular space, for me, means like matter and anti-matter world colliding with each other. But thanks anyhow
