I can have a hard time in stores with tall, unfinished ceilings (like Costco, hardware stores, etc) but the worst are the older discount stores. The newer ones are fine... but there are some (like a Deals and an Aldi) around here that I almost passed out in. Such as, I nearly fell over while passing by a plastic/rubber stuff aisle in a Deals, and then in an Aldi after looking at the floor for too long.

Then again, it might just be me being crazy.

Word. Even Hustler Hollywood, which is tame as a basket of kittens. I always get the feeling that people are looking at me and thinking "I know what YOU'RE doing later!"

I also hate going into women's clothing stores if I'm out with a female friend. There's nothing for me to do and nowhere for me to sit, so I wander around trying to look engrossed in something. If the option is available, I'll usually inform my friend that I'll be across the way in the sports/gun/beef store.

My favorite coffee shop, usually a quiet and relaxing place, regularly fills up at about 9:00 PM with 20-somethings that have nothing better to do than stand in a circle-jerk right in front of the entrance or the ordering counter. They bring noise and about 20 degrees Fahrenheit of pure, smelly, human-borne heat. Walking into the shop when the group is there feels like you've burst into some secret underground club that you have to kill a man to gain membership to. Plus the muffins are usually stale by that time of day.

Stores with ceilings composed of oppressively bright halogen tubes bother me also.

I'm uncomfortable in large busy supermarkets - after I'm about halfway through, I start to get a bit overwhelmed by the noise and lights and people. So I just go shopping at the small local stores, slightly more expensive but I walk out not feeling frazzled.

    I also don't like hyper-trendy shops.

    snooty boutiques
sporting goods stores, ala Cabella's/Bass Pro
    Office Depot
    Home Depot
electronics stores, unless I'm in the market for something specific
Victoria's Secret (I'd rather just order stuff online)

I love big grocery stores, though. Bigger the better, and more specialty items, the better. It's like being a kid in a toy shop.

    Hot Topic.

I like some stuff in there, but man, that place is lame in so many ways.

Also, Hot Topic should just change their name to "The I Hate My Parents Store" and be done with it.

are there any places you feel uncomfortable walking into?
    A store. Hell on earth.

    Barber. Too intimate.
    Doctor. Too intimate.
    Dentist. Too intimate.
    Vienna. Never go there.
    Computor classes. Insane.

    Aspen. Too expensive.
