I volunteer my time when I can, didn't at all last year, clocked in about 100 hours this year. Volunteering my time is how I prefer to do any donations.. Next year I think I will get involved in an organization of some sort and stick to it instead of just attending random things.
I have donated to the wounded warrior program on several occasions, and I will go out of my way to buy items that will help support different things -- I'll buy the pink yogurts and send in the wrapper as opposed to the normal canisters, etc.
I donate my clothing when I can, and I try to shop at places like Goodwill and Salvation Army to help give benefit to those places. I also buy into community events that have local benefits like the cook-offs that they do for various fundraisers or events. I buy over-priced boy-and-girl-scout merchandise even though I have no desire for it (exception of thin mints. Those things are totally just for me.) to support the kids because.. they're kids.
Always been sick when the blood drive came around my neck of the woods, but I'll catch it one day.
