Light hurts my eyes many days and makes me more dizzy and that creates friction with the person who lives here who wants all the curtains open, I get accused of being a kill joy, difficult or something like that...
*nods* Yep. I use to be married to this person. As soon as I'd leave the house he'd open every single shade wide open. Gee. Why did I even bother spending hundreds on window treatments? I spent a lot of time in the basement.
Every so often I'll just hang out in some dark place, such as this mall that's nearby my house. I used to frequent an elementary school that was nearby but there are a crapload of druggies and dangerous people in general during the night time. It's nice to have that kind of peaceful reflective moment once in a while.
Sometimes if I get up early in the morning I'll just stay awake for a bit.
My favorite period of the day is the evening where the sun's really burning out but it's not like a "beautiful red" that's dulling.
Edit: people who like dark places scare me.

Still using a needle to break apart a grain of sand.
I like dark areas too. My best friend in high school used to call my bedroom "the cave".
The main thing I dislike is direct unnatural light. So I prefer to have the room I'm in to be completely dark with an adjoining room that's lit, or indirect light from an outside source, even city lights. Other people find the first thing to be particularly grating. But what's the real difference between having my room lit or another room lit? Oh and I've creeped people out by emerging from dark rooms when they didn't expect anyone to be there, usually at work. I love it.
