    Default Are You Jumpy?

I can't decide which is more admirable, having control over your reflexes to where you don't flinch at things or having such good reflexes that you jump at everything.

I, personally, am incredibly reflexive, and it makes me feel girly.

I myself have incredibly fast reflexes. As you said it is sometimes annoying. Especially while I'm watching horror movies. But in all other circumstances it's good to have fast reflexes. Especially if one is in to self-defense learning/training.

I used to be a lot jumpier. Now, it's mainly when I'm spacing out/overtired.
If someone walks up to me & tries to wake me, I tend to react in a startled/defensive manner, for a few seconds. Then I realize what's going on, & feel bad for startling the other person, hah.
If someone startles me to play a trick on me, or ambushes me somewhere as a 'surprise' greeting-- basically anything where there's physical contact from behind me/in my peripheral- I tend to immediately respond by quickly turning & throwing a punch/shoving. Mere fight/flight. I'm not even mad, it's just fluid, thoughtless, kneejerk response.

Gotta love remnants of PTSD, eh?

That sort of reaction-time has actually come in handy for me on a couple occasions, though.
Better to have it & not need it than need it & not have it, I figure.

:EDIT: ah, & I'll occasionally jump at abrupt, loud noises in horror movies. People would be like, ''OOOO U SO SCARED!'' when the movie didn't creep me out, in the least... just stupid abrupt noises trigger my reflex. Annoying.

I guess my reflexes are fast? I mean, I was walking down the street the other day and this large low flying object (some sort of fucked up beetle) whizzed towards my face...I immediately jumped into the air and did at least a 180 degree spin. I'm sure I made an ass of myself. Same when people's stupid dogs start barking at me out of nowhere.

I guess I am pretty jumpy in general. Too much caffeine during the day.

Having a martial arts background will influence this both in being alert & being able to move/respond swiftly in case of need. After a while it becomes ingrained.

Eh, it's not like it was pretty. I ended up from the sidewalk to well into the street, and I nearly toppled over upon landing. It looked more retarded than "cool."

I think walking with headphones on heightens my jumpiness.

super, super jumpy. and reasonably fast reflexes, although the reflex is far more often some random jerky motion than a useful one.

    loud & jumpy.
every normal man must be tempted, at times,
to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag,
    and begin slitting throats.

    Not really jumpy.

But restless. I can't stay still for very long without going c.r.a.z.a.y.
