I know for a while Republicans would count the number of times he said 'I' in his speeches and used it to show how self centered he was.

I think it's a cool literary device he used.

But the original quote you gave us does have him putting that "and" in there.

Which I see nothing wrong with. The conjugation of the verb "to be" is clearly for the first person singular...it's not too big a stretch to fill in the blanks.

It should be mentioned that the quote was not spoken like that and it isn't from a formal written message but from a Reddit post, meaning it was written in the context of a social networking campaign. It starts ""Hey everybody - this is barack. Just finished a great rally in Charlottesville, and am looking forward to your questions."

It sounds like millions of other tweets or Faceook posts.

Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo.

    Edit:
James, while John had had 'had', had had 'had had'; 'had had' had had a better effect on the teacher.

    English grammar sucks.

    They're both wrong...it's "Ah'm".

    Is this acceptable?

I'm thinking it should be "I am", or "I'm".
I'm thinking the whole sentence started in the mind of the tweeter (it was a tweet, right?) with "I have". It sounds like letter-writing speak that got thumbed into a phone.
Bellison uncorked a flood of horrible profanity, which, translated, meant, "This is extremely unusual."

That was my point. "I just" would have been more appropriate than "Just".

10 years from now we'll have a president who'll write "lmao, i was just abt to get it on with syria, but the pakis stopped it. Leetwin" and you all'll just be like "since it was a tweet, it's cool"...

Ohhh I see what you're saying.

    Didn't even catch it.

Still...because he's a president it means he can't speak to people informally? Seems a bit much to ask. It's not even a very extreme example of informality (like the one you gave and I highly doubt it will ever go that far).

Guess I don't really see what the big deal is. Sorry. :p
