I was intimidated for like a week but yall have jaded me.

I'm a frickin forum paratrooper now. The only time I'm actually worried is if I think I've gone too far or there are about to be some infractions if things continue the way they are, which has only happened once so far.

This is how I see the 'scary people'

This is what I want to do to the scary people (most of the time)

I honestly haven't given it any thought until recently.

Is the fact that effective policing of the forum (to prevent sexual harassment, etc) can't simply rely on everyone to report abuse (due to said intimidation coupled with misguided compassion) news to you?

Yeah, I thought this was going to be a "who on the forum intimidates you?" thread but this is a whole different topic.

But I used to respond to all the threads I wanted to convincing myself that I could just "leave" but it turned out that it wasn't the case at all. I love the last word, I can't not have the last word. So if I see there's a huge heated debate, (or predict one coming) now I'm much less likely to respond. If I respond in disagreement to someone I generally trust that it will end quick. (Not to bully them into submission but either just "lets agree to disagree" or lets work out the misunderstanding fast.) Because I enjoy the long and even nasty arguments sometimes, (practices my sharp tongue skillz etc) but I don't want to spend the entire day on typec anymore.

Reps are for quick responses, and not intended to further debate. I think certain people will spam the rep wall with a continued argument because it is private (I know now) and you are not allowed to reply. They can have the last word and don't have to face repercussions of their ideas. It looks like a loophole for people who do not want to take responsibility for their ideas. Because there isn't a way to delete those comment, it really irritates me enough to actually put someone on ignore.

I have been intimidated a couple of times on forums in the past, but not now. I do get frustrated with some posters, but I wouldn't say I actually dislike anyone, just their ideas.
