No, I am not photogenic. People tell me I tend to look better in real life.
For all that we have done, as a civilization, as individuals, the universe is not stable, and nor is any single thing within it. Stars consume themselves, the universe itself rushes apart, and we ourselves are composed of matter in constant flux. Colonies of cells in temporary alliance, replicating and decaying and housed within, an incandescent cloud of electrical impulses. This is reality, this is self knowledge, and the perception of it will, of course, make you dizzy.

It could more easily be shaped by lighting and angle because of its general formlessness.

I, OTOH, generally look the same in most pics unless the angle is extremely odd, because I have more structure to my face. Its squarishness (larger and higher cheekbones, square jaw, larger pointed chin...banana chin lol) makes it more difficult to manipulate how it looks..
That's an interesting point. Anecdotally, I can see that in myself as contrasted to a few of my friends who have much more structured and angular faces. They do tend to look very much the same in all pics, whereas I feel like for me, I can look very different depending on the angle, lighting, and such. I have almost no angularity to my face, except for a slightly pointy nose. lol!!

I knew a girl who always insisted that every photo that made her look bad be deleted. I suppose that is one way to make sure you look good in photos.

Yeah, I'm not lighting expert or anything, but I read this just now on some how-to article about being photogenic:

People are three-dimensional, but a photograph provides only an illusion of depth. Our brains process this two-dimensional image and automatically imagine it in 3-D. Angular faces tend to be more photogenic because they appear to have more depth in pictures.

As a portrait photographer I am telling you people are just born with it!

I know how to pose people in a flattering way but really and truly some people look better on camera then in person and some are the opposite. It's a total trip!

I have sort of angular features and I'm not photogenic.

My bf says that maybe less expressive people take better candid shots because their face stays in the same composed expression. I think that's a very good point. In candid shots I'm very often in the middle of some weird face. Haha

I typically look horrible on camera. If the lighting isn't just right then I'm going to look like ass.

I'm photogenic (I've been told that my whole life) and I don't know why. Natural smile? I've taught my children how to do natural smiles in the camera.

I often look like a dork in candids because I am expressive.

My sister dated a guy who was pretty hot in rl but his pics always looked bad. His nose translated weird in pics.
