    Tonight is a strong contender:

    Me: *cutting ESTJ's hair*
    ESTJ: - insert harsh, smart-ass remark -
Me: You know.... I am holding scissors, dude.
ESTJ: Pshh, whatever. You won't cut me.
Me: What makes you so sure?
ESTJ: Because I know you. You would never intentionally hurt someone or do something that you know might harm someone. You would never allow yourself.

Great compliments I've received that always come to mind when people ask the thread topic:

From my mom, "I can't imagine you in a job that's not creative."

From a classmate in HS, "Your stye is great because it's all your own".
I do treasure all the comments on my style, when people tell me it's unique or whatever. Go ahead, call me shallow :P

From an INTP I dated many years ago, "You have a hot brain"
+ other weird compliments about my collarbone, my small "heart shaped mouth" and "orbs" (eyes). That I have "the eye", as in, a good sense of aesthetics & taste in art. He was very creative... I liked the creative compliments! And man, can an INTP gush when so inclined.... Plus, I hate my mouth/lips, so any compliment about it always strikes me & stands out.
Often a star was waiting for you to notice it. A wave rolled toward you out of the distant past, or as you walked under an open window, a violin yielded itself to your hearing. All this was mission. But could you accomplish it? (Rilke)

*My fatherly diesel shop foreman told another man, a client, that I had "big brass balls the size of [his] fist". He said this thinking I couldn't hear them. It brought tears to my eyes. It changed me forever and made me braver.

*A woman once mistook me for a mannequin. I scared the daylights out of her when I finally moved. (So yes I'm stiff, pale, and frozen in a rigid unnatural position.)

*Any time my twin tells me I'm smart and then pats me like a special pet. lol

    These examples come to mind:

I met some foreign expatriates at a gathering at a friend's house a few years ago. Since then, she always invites me when this group gets together. She explained that some of them had asked that I be invited since I was interesting, well-educated, and intelligent.

Since finishing grad school and moving on to a real job, I have stayed in touch with my old advisor. During my first year away, he told me once that he missed having me work with him, and that I was the best writer of all his students.

Last week, I had occasion to give career advice to a colleague. In thanking me, he said that everyone in our organization had pretty good logic, but mine was particularly cold and unassailable.
I've been called a criminal, a terrorist, and a threat to the known universe. But everything you were told is a lie. The truth is, they've taken our freedom, our home, and our future. The time has come for all humanity to take a stand...

The nicest thing anyone's ever said to me was actually on this forum - in a "What kind of Man/Woman would you be?" thread:

It's been a couple of years, and a nicer compliment would be difficult for me to imagine. Thank you (again) cafe, wherever on the internet you've disappeared to.
