BTW is it weird that I kinda love watching people get all emotional as they hear their national anthem played? This is Felix Sanchez of the Dominican Republic during the medal ceremony for the 400 metre hurdles - he just sobbed and sobbed.
I love it when they get all overcome on the podium! Their little faces! Yes, you just did an awesome thing, be happy and proud! I also love it when the three medal-winners all mingle and congratulate each other and seem pleased for the others as well as for themselves. That's how sport should be.

I'd be a card-carrying sensotard, but I can't find the goddamn card.
1st attempt 14.0, 2nd 12.1, 3rd 11.7, 4th 11.6, 5th 11.4. Improving every time. I did do it with two hands though...

I'm pretty disappointed about the Women's Hockey Semi-Final. NZ almost had the Netherlands and I just about chewed my hand off with the tension. It ended up being tied 2-2 after extra time and finished with a shoot out, where the Dutch finally took the win. Still, it was a big ask for the 6th ranked team to beat the World Champions. Apparently the British media had predicted it would be a whitewash of 5-1. We showed them!
Also Katie Glynn proved yet again how tough Kiwi women are by taking a STICK TO THE HEAD AT FULL SWING. The blood poured out, she left the field, collected 2 stitches and 5 staples, had it bandaged up and was on again after about 20 minutes. Apparently she says her heart hurts more than her head over the loss.
Here's a clip of it (sorry it's crap quality):

they've gone through and through me, like wine through water, and altered the colour of my mind.
