    Kenya's not doing nearly as well as we're used to. I think we just got used to scooping most middle to long-distance athletics events and got complacent. And it's interesting having to see other countries (beyond Ethiopia and, perhaps, Morocco) as viable competition when it comes to the long-distance events.

    Ezekiel Kemboi's win last night though was awesome. And the bromance bit with the French runners-up was just hilarious to watch.

    Yeah I had noticed that. Maybe they're just not as dominant any more. I'm glad they finally got their gold.

    BTW is it weird that I kinda love watching people get all emotional as they hear their national anthem played? This is Felix Sanchez of the Dominican Republic during the medal ceremony for the 400 metre hurdles - he just sobbed and sobbed.

    This was great too. It's a shame it's not gold but that Belarusian was just too good this time. Well done Valerie!

    I've dreamt in my life dreams that have stayed with me ever after, and changed my ideas;
    they've gone through and through me, like wine through water, and altered the colour of my mind.

    In the keirin finale today, New Zealand and the Netherlands BOTH won the bronze medal, because they finished at exactly the same time. This actually happens sometimes in swimming, but that sport is measured in 1/100th of seconds, track cycling is measured in 1/1000th of seconds.

    I know I saw it. There was no way you could judge it even based on the photo finish. I think they were both rather happy about it and didn't seem to begrudge having to share, which was great.
