    Yeah! I know, right? They're sweet and crunchy. Well, I guess not if they're pureed. But they're sweet. And earthy. Kind of dirt-flavoured a little bit.

    I have been eating beets since I was a small child and now make homemade borscht every couple of months and I have NEVER had red pee.

    Apparently this is because only 14% of the population experiences this phenomenon. I apparently get enough iron, you have some sort of vitamin deficiency if it happens.

    Not necessarily. The article even says that it can be caused by "eating beets while eating a lot of other oxalic acid containing foods such as spinach, rhubarb, or chocolate." Other sources say that it could just be a genetic predisposition to not be able to break down the dye in your digestive track.
