You sound like an INFP. (That's not an insult. I am one.)

That sounds pretty close to my current method of self-motivation, so I'm using your quote as part of my answer. I want to become perfect according to my current ideals, and at each step, having reached my goals, to use my improved awareness to develop a new concept of perfection so that I can reach further for the next ideal. It is part of who I am, as an INFP, to seek internal balance. Right now, my main goals are to perfect my compassion, and to become strong enough to empathize, even with people who are opposed to my values, without fear or hatred. It's going to take a lot of work, but I feel that the meaning of life is to seek the perfection of these spiritual qualities.

Family and work. That is why its really depressing for me to currently (and bound by contract, so there's no quitting) be working a job that I kind of hate.

Family and work, family and work. Yeah, I'm an ISTJ.

The need to make things better.

When I first read the thread title I didn't think I'd be able to answer since I don't really know what 'value' really means... I don't know if I value anything or how to value something, or what the signs are of valuing anything and the word 'values' has been sorta enigmatical to me.... but... yeah. What makes me get out of bed and carry on? What drives me? The need to make things better. To *do* something.

I get very depressed and inert if I'm prevented by outside circumstances from being able to make a difference to the world around me. I'm feeling a bit down like that at the moment because since I started homeschooling my daughter I've had to give up all the voluntary work I was doing, which was important to me and kept me looking myself in the eye.

When I selected "Nothing, and I couldn't care less" I expected it to be the runaway leader.

I think knowledge is the most important thing in life. If someone hardwired my brain to the Wikipedia mainframe and downloaded all the information, i'd be the happiest man on earth

Would spreading my seed go under 'Family'?
"We grow up thinking that beliefs are something to be proud of, but they're really nothing but opinions one refuses to reconsider. Beliefs are easy. The stronger your beliefs are, the less open you are to growth and wisdom, because "strength of belief" is only the intensity with which you resist questioning yourself. As soon as you are proud of a belief, as soon as you think it adds something to who you are, then you've made it a part of your ego."

God gave me value from the beginning. But during my life, being a father has added value, maybe. It's added duty and responsibility at least. Beyond that, just making a positive impact on people and doing cool stuff.

Laughter- being able to laugh with my loved ones and being able to be silly and quality time with those I care for. Also being understood- I don't quite know how to expain but being understood is such a precious priceless stone to me. It is the only time I truely feel safe and perhaps truely loved- because if a person who cares about me truely understands me and vice versa, they/I know what it is they are loving and that makes it meaningful to me. If a person understands me then they really see me- being seen brings value to me.
