Alcohol doesn't kill brain cells. In fact, in moderation, alcohol is good for the brain.

I drank a lot in my early 20s... Things I noticed when I stopped drinking...

    1. I lost 10 pounds in a month without even trying.
    2. I had a lot more money than I did when I was drinking.
    3. I felt better. No headaches, no achy body, etc.
    4. I wasn't so damned tired all the time.
    5. My car liked me more when I stopped drinking.

I don't like the taste and I don't like how it makes me feel. I'm very attuned to how my body feels and I like feeling well. I actually almost can't bear the sensation of feeling less than well. I've always been really averse to having any kind of dependency too. On anything. Even had to adjust my thinking a little in that way in order to have relationships. So yeah, the idea of being enslaved doing anything I don't deliberately choose, is extremely off-putting. :horor: (I don't judge others for their lifestyles though. I really don't. My values WRT myself are entirely to do with myself. I'm just very strict with myself in this respect).

I also think I just happen to have fortunate body chemistry in that I don't seem to get hooked on anything, (except feeling well).

One of the most amazing and impressive people I've ever met in my life was a straight edge.

i'm a mental teetotaler. there are just so many things to celebrate that i can't really be strict about being both a mental and a physical teetotaler. so i choose one.

i'd say i teetotal around semi-weekly celebratory binges. that's the kind of teetotaler i am.
I may be kindly, I am ordinarily gentle, but in my line of business I am obliged to will terribly what I will at all.

I don't drink mainly because I got drunk once for my 18th and I hated every moment. That, and don't really like the taste of alcohol.

I'm not really against it, per say, I think if people want to drink that's fine. Alcohol just never really agreed with me and there were a few alcoholics in my family so i've got an emotional reason to not be taken with it.

am very indifferent to drinking. i like it paired with food.
that's about it. i'm not a club/pub/bar scene person either.

    Yes.
I like to rock n' roll all night and *part* of every day. I usually have errands... I can only rock from like 1-3.

Pretty simple really... I prefer the lucidity I have when I'm sober. Also, I never want it to develop into a habit. I might drink a few times a year, tops... which maybe is a bit odd, as there's a big drinking culture where I'm from.

I don't drink very much for the following reasons in no particular order:

    1- Expensive. Water is free.
2- I like water much more.
3- I have only had one hangover and that was more than enough to show me that which I never wish to do again.
4- I like being in control of my actions.
5- I turn into an ENFJ when I have 2 drinks. :horor:
6- Most drinks don't taste that great.
7- I prefer water overall for any kind of liquid.
8- I don't like the idea of making decisions based on the whim and emotion of the moment that could possibly do damage to my future.
