    Default Project Glass

Meet Project Glass: an augmented reality undertaking that's emerged out of the company's black ops innovation lab, known as Google X. With Project Glass, Google is taking a serious look at augmented reality. What would life be like if rather than reaching into our pocket for a phone, the data we need was fluidly woven right into our lives?

Not to be confused with Google Goggles — an app that lets you search for anything just by snapping a photo — Google's glasses superimpose what's known as a head's up display (HUD) over your visual field. The visual display, as you can see in Google's concept video, provides contextual information and lets you do just about anything a smartphone would, from texting and geosocial check-ins to turn-by-turn directions — all without lifting a finger. Of course, Google's conception of this ties right into its umbrella of products, from Maps and Latitude to Google+. According to the minds behind Project Glass, technology should "be there when you need it and get out of your way when you don't".

    What do you guys think?

Doesn't Tony Stark use this in his Iron Man suit?

That would be so fucking annoying.

    I'd hurt myself using those.

    Yup.

Interacting with technology is imperfect because our devices (keyboards, mice, touchpads, etc.) are imperfect. The easier, more intuitive, more seamless, and less obtrusive they are, the better. I doubt that first-generation Glass would be perfectly 'out of the way' when it's not needed, but the concept is an improvement over handling a smartphone.

The only reason why all of this stuff is in our phones is because phones are a thing we carry around all the time. It may as well be glasses or something else that's equally or more convenient.

Amazing! My only worry would be that people never take them off and loose out on social interaction a fair bit, he definately didn't spend much time with his friend when they met... but yah maybe thats cus i'm an extrovert and a feeler..hehe

Oh but... i still would like some, like to see how they develop too, i'm sure you could manage it with contacts at some point in the future, or just skip that and insert chip directly into brain... it's gonna happen.

First thing I thought of when I saw this idea.....

an X-Ray app that will inevitably be uploaded.

Finally a real life version of X-Ray glasses, yay.

(How society handles this issue should be interesting.)

Seems too perfect to be real within the near future, but I liked the idea.

Yeah, more than likely it'd be crap.

Like Sea Monkeys. False advertising! I really wanted sea monkeys when I was a kid. All I got was shrimp.
