A man builds. A parasite asks 'Where is my share?'
A man creates. A parasite says, 'What will the neighbors think?'
A man invents. A parasite says, 'Watch out, or you might tread on the toes of God... '
I dont have sources anymore, but from what I read. Its a different kind of protien. It was more then likely t-nation or bodybuilding.com or one of those. I dont frequent those sites anymore and I dont remember all the details.
Take what I say with a grain of salt, because that's all it is compared to the ocean of complexity when it comes to actions and real life.
"it's really not a hard question to answer"
yes, it is actually. the question was focused on the "still". it's most likely a society thing, not a biological one as you are trying to indicate.
second, we are naturally omnivorous but before our sedentary lifestyle we used to eat a lot of nuts and only sporadically meat. we have actually never eaten as much meat as we are eating now with modern society.
not likely. according to most scientists, neanderthals consumed almost exclusively meat (based on analysis of nitrogen compounds found in neanderthal coprolites and analysis of the grave and cave sites). I would imagine most hunter gatherer tribes of homo sapiens weren't much different
i seriously irks me when people give their opinion on stuff they obviously know nothing about. in the least, it shows lack of modesty. and you do that a lot. how about reading a book before you speak, next time?
I have read a decent number of articles and watched several documentaries on evolutionary biology (I'd be happy to recommend some to you. they're quite interesting) and nearly all of them mention meat consumption as a reason for our increased brain size and vitality. if my lack of modesty irks you (get used to it, I'm a cocky bastard), that's your misfortune, but it really is an easy question to answer. basically it boils down to
- it tastes good
- it's easy to digest
- it's high in calories
- it fills you up (ever had a plate of vegetables and felt like you were still hungry?)
- if you get high quality meat, it's also very healthy and great for both weight loss and lean muscle gain (large consumption of meat is not the cause of obesity in the Western World. the cause is poor quality food, high carbohydrates, low exercise and high exposure to toxic chemicals)
you may as well ask "why do people have so much sex" and say that is a hard question to answer

why is an animal so much of a lesser being than a human when evidence has shown otherwise?
It's not really a question of levels, it's a question of human or not. Why is it immoral for us to eat animals but not for other omnivorous species to do so? Or is natural animal behaviour considered "immoral" too?
