Was the regular number higher than that before?

    If so, what was it?

Oh, I don't know but it did seem higher than that. It's a hell of a lot of effort to do all that customization for nobody to be using it.

It was definitely much higher than that a year ago.

It seems to have dropped under critical mass. There needs to be some magic number of active traffic posting on the board for it to maintain its rate of activity, under which things just flatline. (At best, if the few people are regulars and use it as their meeting place, then the forum never "dies" but it's hard to get new members.)

I gather it didn't have any cliques to sustain its life. But even then cliques oftentimes are an exclusion factor. That's the only thing keeping the ISTP sanctum running. And even then I don't feel like putting forth the effort to create "fun" threads like, "add a sentence to this story" or "insult the person above you."

Are they completely down? When I checked a few weeks ago, I just got a "we're down" page. It didn't help that Limit kept changing the system and almost made it too complicated to use easily. It was causing issues on my browser, with all the stuff programmed into the page.

Features for people are online seem to be (1) things that make posting, finding posts, and organizing your mail easier and (2) rewards/incentives for participation seem to be the best things to focus on. Lots of popup and mouseovers and weird stuff that slows down your browser experience is not a positive. Most people who post on forums want to be able to simply post stuff and answer other posts. There are many active forums that are just using standard vBull or have standard plugins added, nothing too fancy.

I never went to the site, but I hate to hear about the death of forums... I've seen numerous ones dry up completely over the past few years... I'm not sure if they're losing out to social media or just lack of conversations, but I'd like to join a "save the forums" social movement...

I love to see forums which I've been banned from die. : )
