Seriously? The secretary didn't question the note's validity?

According to the narrative, she DID question it and tried to contact the mother and failed... so... she did nothing and let the boy go home on the bus. *doh*

Ah, I couldn't hear the narrative that well because I'm at work and my boss has super sonic hearing, so I had to keep it turned down really low and could barely hear it.... I personally like that it was done in a highlighter....

Short's honest and graceful reply only further accentuates the heartbreak involved.
Why did she *hit* Twittter to apologize for a gaffe of that magnitutude? Perhaps a personal snail-mail or a phone call is in order? Geebuz, I would.

Gotta love Fe. It shows in part at least she either wanted to publicly apologize for gaffing it, or that she was worried people would think she was a crazy bint for what she did and was trying to save face partly for herself. But maybe she also did apologize in private... I dunno.

A maybe on all counts, but I am truly nonplussed at the number of personal interactions being dumped onto the Easy St. of digital communications.

True. I think the facelessness of it allows for more sloppiness and atrocity to occur.

Default Mother Drives With 5-Week-Old on Top of Car

A Phoenix, Ariz., woman put her 5-week-old baby on top of her car in his car seat and drove away, apparently forgetting he was there, not even noticing when the seat fell off the car and landed in an intersection, police said.
The baby's mother, 19-year-old Catalina Clouser, who allegedly had been smoking marijuana, was arrested and charged with aggravated driving under the influence and child abuse, police said.
Clauser, her boyfriend and their friends had been smoking marijuana earlier in the evening at a nearby park, but the boyfriend was arrested on suspicion of aggravated DUI when they went to a store - with the baby in the car - to get beer, according to police.

Upset that her boyfriend was arrested, police said, Clauser went to a friend's home and smoked more marijuana.

Clauser left around midnight and apparently put the sleeping baby on the roof of the car and drove off, forgetting he was there, and continued driving after the baby fell off the car, Holmes said.

    /smh

Now, I've never smoked pot, so I don't know how much it affects short-term memory or disorients a person, but can't some of this be chalked up to age and immaturity? It seems the critical thinking skills in general could be lacking, but simply aggravated by heavy marijuana use. There are a lot of terrible stories about forgetful parents and children in cars without aid of mind-altering substances. Just sayin'.
