Default What threads catches your eye?

So, say your word on the topic But most important of all, vote

    Voting strategy

The poll is multi-option on purpose. Select as many or as few as you like.

If you select few options, or only one, you're able to give the maximum impact on the deciding factors you choose.

If you select about half of the options, you're able to influence the outcome of the poll the most.

If you select most, or almost all of the options, it's practically like giving strong negative votes to the options you didn't choose.

Should I wait and see what the poll says, or should I just blurt out what makes a popular thread?

    - controversial topic
    - interesting topic
    - dramatic topic
    - commenting requires little expertise and is mostly opinions
    - vibe and tone (established in opening posts) fluctuate between playful and insightful
    - popular poster begins thread

    ...

And do RL popular people tend to be popular online, too?

Popularity attracts popularity, but so does content and meaning.

I totally messed up my vote. I answered based on the title of what makes a thread popular not on the poll question of what makes me view a thread. So I voted based on if I would post to a thread (which would make it popular ). Here were my choices:

The topic seems important to me
    The topic seems fun
I'll expect a chance to argue a subject constructively
I'll expect to have a nice, friendly chat with people in there
The title had a question I feel like answering
The title makes me think of questions to ask
I'll expect to share my ideas in an accepting environment
I'll expect to discuss an idea in a rigorous manner

Sorry, I was gonna change the thread title, so it wouldn't be as confusing
    I'll do it.

Nice selection. It seems to be as much about the nice mood and the atmosphere as it is about information and learning, for you

Good blurting out there, man! I can get that controversial/interesting/dramatic part

I didn't even think of threads being easy or difficult to participate in

I just thought in terms of popular or insightful, as opposites

Though I should add that I choose these options for this forum. In forums where I know more people and/or I am more comfortable, I am more likely to view threads made of people I know, or I think they usually start interesting/fun threads.
I also will view threads that have lots of answers and flaming threads (which usually is likely to be a "fun" topic).
Also, viewing a thread does not necessarily mean posting in it.

Thanks. I was thinking about it and I haven't posted on a lot of threads that I thought were very informative. Reason being I just read them and didn't feel like I had anything to add.
