I love how she starts off with apologetics about how she will "never be a porn star". LOL.

    EDIT: Cooper read my mind!

Maybe a little off topic, but since when do you get to submit your own senior picture? Doesn't everyone line up in front of a drab background and don the same dirty cap?

^ Nope, the senior pic is usually your one-and-only opportunity to submit your own photo to the yearbook. Still, it's school though, and like they have all those other rules that you have to follow, including a dress code, the pic is going to have restrictions on it as well. They'll sometimes send a kid home if they wear a tank top... do students sue over that too?

They lined us up only if we didn't provide our own professional photos

Basically, all the guys stood in front of the drab background

All the girls went down the street to our town's only photographer weeks before this

Many of them paid for hundreds of pictures, but they only got to submit one to the yearbook

That photographer makes off like a bandit every year

It is generally, if you don't get your pictures taken, your picture won't be shown in the yearbook. All you get is a "persons not listed on the yearbook" section. There are other sections where people could be listed, but they have to pay for those sections and the pictures had to be... let's say... valid. If it isn't considered valid, the yearbook people had the right to not put the picture up because of its far reaching consequences even if you payed for that section. You < Yearbook and everyone else. Other than that, yes, "boring" pictures for the most part (other than the part where you actually payed.)

Other than that, at my place, everyone was provided with a certain number of free photo taking services by a nearby "professional" photography center (Photoshopping out blemishes, making the picture look nice and processional, etc.) But considering the whole theme of my yearbook was to look more professional and at least make a point to be more cohesive, this whole look this girl is suing for ain't going to cut it. Quite frankly, I wouldn't want her picture to be in my yearbook. I would even pay EXTRA for her not to be in my yearbook, especially if I was a senior.

Definitely a Courtney Stodden type. And she and her parents are pretty much what's wrong with our society right now. I'm sure they're thrilled this garnered national attention. She'll have her own reality show before year's end.

Perhaps they are the smart ones then?

This sounds more like a very reasonable editorial decision rather than a free speech issue. I can't protest that my photo isn't on the front page of Time magazine, the school has a right to decide what their publication is for and how it is presented.

In my yearbook photo, I was sitting on a tombstone, burning a copy of the student handbook. (My pal on the YB comittee snuck that one in)
My antisocial gesture caused a spate of copycats in the following years. The administration was not amused. I was.
So I don't see what the big deal is.

at our school for senior pictures, all the girls had to wear a black drape thing and all the guys had to wear a fake tuxedo. i'm all for free speech, but that girl's picture is ridiculous, and if she's not allowed to wear that outfit to school, it's not unreasonable that it's not allowed in the yearbook either.
