New series has just started, you can catch the first episode on iPlayer. Sending up the coalition doesn't seem to be as fertile as the good old / bad old days. Maybe it will just take a while to warm up. Or maybe Iannucci is spreading himself too thin.
I am prepared to retract this based on episode 2 alone.
Malcolm's Lines of the week:
“Don’t send Ben to the backbenches. He’ll just wank and eat Pringles. Leather seats are just an invitation to men like him”
“She’s going to kick her own head in, which will be easy because she does yoga.”
“What the fuck is this? Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Cunt?”
on Star Wars: “The one about the fucking space hairdresser and the cowboy. He’s got a tinfoil pal and a pedal bin. His father’s a robot and he’s fucking fucked his sister. Lego. They’re all made of fucking lego.”
I think it might actually be possible to die from laughing.

It's been awhile since I've watched the series so without really putting an effort I wouldn't be able to remember the incidences that grosses me about her which I don't feel like doing right now.
It's her disgusting manipulations that makes me feel so grossed out. It's always what she wants to do and she manipulates everyone around her in to believing it's the right thing to do. Her friends, her husband, her co-workers etc. Basically everyone she meets she manipulates. She is never honest about her needs which is what bothers me. Never for once she lets others know what she wants. She makes them believe (using emotions as hostages) it's what they should do.
In her defense though she does commit extremely selfless acts on certain occasions.

I don't understand this thread, I don't watch movies with characters I hate in them.
Not even characters that are conceived to be unlikable? You've never seen even an antagonistic character you genuinely, deeply disliked?
Joffrey Baratheon is probably one of the most common entries on this list, and that character is 100% designed to be detestable. Makes people root for the heroes as much as they root AGAINST a really despicable villain.
The other time this happens is in media where you like MOST of the characters, but one sticks in your craw. I know a lot of folks who watched Star Trek: TNG loved most of the characters, but couldn't stand Wesley. Same story for Breaking Bad, which is an amazing show: there's a lot of hate out there for supporting character Skylar White, even while people love the rest of the characters (I don't personally share or fully get the Skylar hate, though). Why give up ten characters you love and an awesome storyline just because sometimes you sporadically see someone awful?
