    Default Types you mimic.

    For whatever reason...

I mimic different types in different situations personally. A lot of times I feel as though I have to consciously mimic Fe people. Just manners and remembering to bring some baked dish to the party, trying to make people feel comfortable if they come over, etc- (more than continuing to sit on the couch reading my book while giving the guests a half-smirk and quiet hello- which, as a side track, is why I feel more comfortable in households where Fe is low, I don't understand the big awkward Fe "scene" that happens when people walk through the door.) I almost never send birthday cards or throw parties, but there are a few things that just seem.... I don't know, like an Fe unwritten rule that you "should" do, and I always have to watch them to try to find out what they are.

Do you have anybody that you consciously mimic to get by?

I am all types as necessary, I adjust presentation as situation dictates. If I have to keep it up (some are more unnatural and tiring) for too long I exhaust.

    Adapt to survive.

I find I have had to create an ENFJ alter-ego for the same reasons you outline here. So when I am at family gatherings or have friends over... I put on my ENFJ hat and I tolerate (and sometimes initiate!) hugs and conversations, and I pay attention to what people may need (table cleared off, a hot beverage, an awkward there there pat on their back, etc).

Thanks to my mom, though, I am insanely good at remembering birthdays of people and I will send a card, email, or text (depending on who it is) to them. It's rather eerie at times how much information I retain on other people that I can summon at a moment's notice.

Thanks to my INTJ ex, I have a mini INTJ side that I can conjure up when I need to manipulate others readjust their expectations and desires.

I can sort of play eSFJ. Works well with everybody, except XNFPs. It is like they feel I'm up to no good.

I can easily go into iNTP mode (I suspect I live there a lot) and eXTJ mode () but I fail at being a perfect EXFJ. I've tried mimicking my mom but I almost always say something that's too snarky and it turns out to be a tsunami (of delight for me) capable of flooding and washing away people's little sandcastles.

Edit: I don't think I can mimic [Fe] Feelers very well in general. It's not me at all and I feel fake doing it.

I try to take on whatever mindset I need to for.. well, whatever it is that I'm getting myself into. There are times when I need to strategize and plan thoroughly, to solidly connect with others, to brainstorm, to act in the moment, to reflect on what I've learned, etc., and I'll try my best at all of those things.

I'm sure that's a stock answer for most people here. So I'll also say that I still don't have a lot of patience with the "in the moment" or detail-oriented stuff, and I often have trouble getting out of 'analysis mode'. Also, in a problem-solving group setting, I try to provide what I think the group is lacking at a given moment, as a sort of counterbalance so that we collectively have the whole picture of a problem or issue.

Power to anyone who tries to 'mimic other types'--if handled appropriately, I think it's a great way to grow.

As a tactic/defense/convenience I have morphed/chameleoned into other types. Mostly ESTP, ENTJ and ISTJs.
I redact everything I have written or will write on this forum prior to, subsequent with and or after the fact of its writing. For entertainment purposes only and not to be taken seriously nor literally.

Survival of the fittest, survival to those who adapt. The most useful one is going into ENTJ mode when I get too far behind on work.

I guess I really just raise levels of Fe or Ti. So I can turn very INTP at times. Sometimes I can almost pass for an ENFJ.

Until you see the evil glint in my eyes.

INTJ definitely... most of my friends seem to think I'm more of a thinking/analytical woman than a feeling one. That, and at times I can go into INFP mode when Fi kicks in. I can seem ENTJ and ENFJ when I am feeling more outgoing.
