Hmm, okay I guess that works. Also is diagnosis basically the doctor acknowledging the illness or is it something more formal than that?

If anyone's not sure, the official manual for mental health conditions can be found in several places online. One site is here: DSM-IV-TR

So, to be clear...are you asking if we've ever had one, or if we have one now? Earlier in my life, I would have fit the criteria for Selective Mutism, Social Anxiety Disorder and Avoidant Personality Disorder. I no longer do, and I don't think I'd meet the criteria for anything else. (I guess you're not really asking about the more 'common' ones though, since you excluded depression for that reason?)

Ouch, so "condition" and "disorder" are the same as "illness" in this case? That opens up a lot more to consider

I'm pretty sure I have ADHD. I used to fit the requirements for Schizoid personality disorder, but that's past.

I'm just getting myself confused now

I guess I just think of 'illness' as something that actually makes me feel very off or ill, not things such as Aspergers and ADHD which impact functioning but don't make me feel ill.
