Default Blood type + mosquito bite prone?

Ok, I just woke up and am going crazy from these fucking mosquito bites. I'm sleeping under a net, am perpetually covered in DEET (right now I'm in malaria/dengue country), wear light colors, don't eat bananas, am not drinking alcohol here, and still, the bloodsuckingandfucking parasites fucking FEAST on me.

I wonder if it's a blood type thing. My type is B+. All the articles I've searched online (I'm fucking desperate, dengue fever is aka "breakbone" fever, if you get the gist of what the lovely condition entails...) say that mosquitos like Type O's, but I've got both BB+ alleles, so wtf!

What's your (blood) type, and do mosquitos see you as a buffet?

A+, and I haven't had a bite in years, despite living in bayou country.

My Type O father just can't escape from them though.

This depends on the situation. I don't care who you are, there are some places that the mosquitoes will eat you alive.

I'm in India at the moment. However, I'm staying with a friend, who's a local there, and he NEVER gets bitten. Well, a few bites here and there. But I look like a pink fucking dalmation.

Well, this is a complicated question. I think they bother me less than other people, but I've been in situations where they were eating me alive.

Part of one of my college jobs was to go into swamps and collect mosquitoes from light traps. They also had a room where they purposefully kept mosquitoes.

Also, in the Mississippi Delta they were very bad because of all the swamps and fields of rice. I used to run in the house, and then seal the bedroom. It had white walls, and I'd spend several minutes killing all the mosquitoes that made it inside.

I'm perpetually around water, and sometimes we have mosquitoes hatching by the millions, like the area is painted black from all the mosquitoes covering everything.

I think your friend developed a resistance against it. Survive a few years there and you will probably get it.
My blood is AB+. Mosquitoes seem to enjoy it.

    0-

    They love me to bits.

Add leeches to that list. Went trekking through a shallow river a few years back. Out of a large group, 4 of us came out with a leech (or two at most) and I had 6 (one of which I discovered while taking a shower, several hours later). Same thing happened a few months later. I chalked it down to the leeches being racist. :-P

It's not blood type, it's metabolism. If you have a speedy metabolism, you tend to release more heat. Mosquitos have an embedded heat-recognition mechanism, that's how they identify the position of potential targets. Thus, people who burn more calories tend to be identified with greater ease, and thus bitten.

I get bitten all the time, but I don't know my blood type. It could be O. I do have high metabolism, though, so if that's the case, it makes sense for me. I'm also highly sensitive to mosquito bites-- they swell up to the size of fricking quarters and itch like a bitch (ha, that rhymes), so it really sucks.

Going to Tanzania in January... I was thinking of trying to skip the malaria prophylaxis and just use DEET and sleep with a net, but I'm now rethinking that idea...
Masquerading as a normal person day after day is exhausting.
