Didn't you say that changing your opinion of my type from ENTP to INFP was a startling revelation?
That's because I'm like 99.9% certain that you had it listed as your type at one point, and I took your word for it. I TRUSTED YOU, GINKGO!!! YOU WERE MY ENTP FRIEND, AND YOU RUINED IT BY ACTUALLY BEING INFP. UGH! I had evidently repressed that memory fairly successfully until this moment.
Alright. I'm reassessing in light of new information.
I think I had an easier time believing you were ENTP when I was first getting to know you because a) you were usually drunk on Vent and were more extroverted as a result, b) most of my other interactions with you were fairly Ne-banter heavy, and finally c) you can occasionally come across as more "T" when posting on the forums, (but it may simply be a function of the mind meld you and Jag have going on. )
I also tend to type people by their "vibe" as opposed to really paying attention to the JCF stuff like I should. Doing it the way I do causes problems when distinguishing between ENTP/ENFP/INFP. I just pick up strongly on the Ne, and don't really go much deeper than that. I will say that INFPs tend to have a gentler feel to them. One gets a sense of powerful, complex movement inside of them, but outside it's usually just scattered light (unless you've pissed them off). I get a more focused sense from you, Ginkgo, but it may be because you better externalize whatever part that drives the INFPs usual internal process is. That would suggest INFJ to me, but I don't know if that works that way.
TL;DR: did believe ENTP at one point. Don't believe it now.
I also have trouble writing logical explanations of why I think people are certain types and do it more by vibe. However, I thought of a few of @Ginkgo's traits that are very characteristic of ENTPs, and not so much of INFPs:
He's a smartass, in a very ENTP way, and not in a soft INFP way.
One of his strongest drives is to be unique, whether this pleases others or not.
He argues with Ti.
He is sarcastic sometimes.
His humor is characteristic of ENTP humor.
He can be sweet in an Fe sort of way.
He has the signature smartass ENTP smirk that I've never seen on any other type.
Only an ENTP would claim to be INFP, drop deliberate hints to suggest he is ENTP, and then force us to use logic rather than "vibes" to demonstrate our opinions.
(I might add more later.)
PS - Having said all that, people can be what they want, or claim to be what they want. It's up to them to decide. I'm just arguing this cuz it's fun and Ginkgo said he didn't mind. If Ginkgo truly is INFP, then I hope he isn't offended by anything I've written.
