It may be that it is not a panty twist over being assigned a different set of letters but over the implicit accusation that one has, despite all knowledge, time and effort spent, come to a false conclusion on a matter that one should actually be an expert on. Then it would not be about "You are someone else!" but about "You are incapable of making proper judgments!".

Fair enough. So then the accusation that makes people tick is not "You aren't you," but "You don't know yourself, never mind that you've spent thirty years, give or take, living in your skin, but I am on the internet and qualified to tell you so" ?

Yeah, that's the worst part. Though when you think about it it should be taken as a compliment- means your balanced, are obviously showing something that type wouldn't predict for you- but making a declaration of a type for a person should just be a big forum etiquette "no-no." Like saying, "there's no way you're an xxxx" just says, "I don't know you very well and I have no desire to get to know you but I'm going to label you and then push you aside."

The first restatement is okay, the second puts too much emphasis on self-knowledge and too little on judgment. The accusation is incompetence, not blindness. However, I am not saying that everybody who is annoyed by being retyped thinks like that, but I would.

It's all about tact. Phrasing your doubt in that manner just invites people to go "Oh yeah? Here's how I'm my type. Now back off."

But if you phrase it as a question and not a statement, that gives them a chance to give you more information -- and to start a discussion, instead of just going "I'm right and you're wrong, end of story, now bow to my brilliance".
