Yes I find it especially disheartening when a nightmare merges into reality [at or near after the wakening]. I call it the "Freddy Kruger effect".

I've had tons of nightmares when I was a kid where my house would go on fire. Frequently had childhood dreams where I couldn't talk either.

Oh man I remember those!! The not being able to talk one or the babel ones in which you cant get others to understand or its like you're speaking another language. I tell you what when I actually heard the Tower of Babel story when I was in my late teens and a friend of mine who was essentially becoming a skeptic and finding out the maddest stories from the bible he could to test sunday school teachers with related it to me I could just think about how terrible that would be, to suddenly be incomprehensible to others.

I had a similar dream to that concept. The only childhood dream I can remember where my parents had to make me feel better afterwards. In the dream, they were taking me out of preschool, and I was trying to tell them not to, and they acted as if I wasn't there, as if they couldn't hear me. I tried and tried to talk to them and nothing worked.

Also, I had a pretty entertaining one that involved single-handedly saving a group of my friends from being boiled in a cauldron by a witch. I was five.

OK so I read a lot about the Nazis from 8-10 so.....
I had a recurring nightmare where Hitler decapitated me with an axe.
I had a lot of dreams where people murdered me because I was scarred from a Reader's Digest article... possibly about BTK?

recurring nightmare where either the house/the forest around the house was on fire. I was usually either asleep or in the bath when I found out about the fire.

....great, now that I'm reminded it's gonna come back again!
