I'm not into canned welcomes. Also, I don't like making friends without knowing anything about them.
A man builds. A parasite asks 'Where is my share?'
A man creates. A parasite says, 'What will the neighbors think?'
A man invents. A parasite says, 'Watch out, or you might tread on the toes of God... '
Why would I bother? It's a weird, unnecessary attempt at social grace. It's not like people walking into a party. No one needs to introduce themselves. No one is expected to introduce themselves.
To my knowledge I've never replied in any of the welcome threads, ever. I've scarcely even poked my metaphorical head in them. I don't respond to them and don't understand why other people respond to them, so I didn't see the point in making one of my own in the first place.
I rarely do intro posts. They seem kind of pointless & drawing unnecessary attention to me. I don't tend to read them either....I'd forget the people immediately after anyway.
I usually just jump into posting while lurking when a thread prompts me to respond to it. I often find the thread via googling some related topic. So no, I didn't do one here...oh wait, I did post in a big intro thread where established members posted the "intro they never made".
