On a working day its crazy, it would be four or five colleagues, sometimes two or three managers, then the eight residents, then perhaps their field social workers and/or parents, three or four daily staff (ie secretary, groundsman, cleaners) I cant really emphasis enough that those are not your average unchallenging exchanges and conversations, you could co-regulating a number of different emotional states.
On other days it could be less, if I stay in the house for instance it will just be the parents and brother and sister, although I generally would socialise with friends which could be three or four people. Its not a wonder when I think about it that I like the occasional break from that.
I usually keep talking until I get bored with the fact that it's a monologue, and then I wander off
I don't mind talking to strangers really. This guy was extra hyper though, and put me offguard just enough to make my "Piss off" face. Which he read right away. By the time I was ready to say something, he made it awkward by calling it out and apologizing. Then there was no point to talk. This has happened with others too.
At least, in my reasoning, there's no point to talk after that. I choose to leave people feeling like crap instead. But I mean well.
am I one of the only people who chats with strangers in the line at the grocery store and such?
Absolutely not, i chat with strangers all the time. I stop to talk to homeless people/buskers/lost souls, start conversations with randoms regarding their attire/style/looks/expression/mood.
I talk to people on the tube, in queue's (although i'm not good at queue's at all), on the tube etc etc.
I clearly never understood the 'stranger danger' issue.
I also talk to inanimate objects, imaginary people, animals and myself.
I'm sure theres more....
"We knew he was someone who had a tragic flaw, that's where his greatness came from"
I had to laugh when I saw the different poll options... how "E-biased" they are :p. If I'd made the original post, the options would be more like:
more than 5
Almost all of my RL interactions with other people these days are at work -- and even if you count everyone who attends any meeting I may be in, I'm easily below 10 on average - probably more like 5. Remove work-related conversations, and it's more like 1 or 2 at most (often zero), unless I've got a special event or something to go to.
