Just for the record, how the hell do you manage to talk with only 10 people when you go to work?
Example of what may happen to me: during the commute (by train) I might meet a group of friends, let's say 5 people, and chat with them. Then, if I'm early, I may catch a coffee and meet say other 3 people I know. Then during work I might talk with say, 10 people; during lunch break another 5-6. Getting off work I might either go cycling with other 2 or 3 friends, or work out, or go out to have a early-evening drink - with a small group of people again. The 30 mark can be easily reached...(and I don't do sales and never will, I don't have a typically chatty personality).
I have no idea how many people I talk to in a day, but now I'm interested in keeping track to get an estimate. I work in a hotel so I bet the number could be higher than I imagined. And yes, I think small talk/passing conversations count since they occur IRL
I am quite content on days where I don't talk to more than a few people (preferably only those who matter).
I feel sorry for those introverts who work in retail or hospitality by necessity.
Is that why so many people in hospitality/retail are cranky?
When I worked in sales management/membership recruitment/retail I spoke to at least a hundred people a day. And I was never visibly cranky or short with customers, even when they were rude. Couldn't say the same for many of my coworkers. Some people just don't have what it takes :P
This poll frightens me because these days the number of people I speak with everyday is soooooooooooo low. Like count on 1 hand low. :horor: Am I gonna turn into a shut-in axe murderer now?

What do you think about people who buy kraft macaroni in some short shorts and a mullet vs. people who drive Audis and buy organic bananas? What if they had both in their cart, had the kraft macaroni haircut and the organic banana car? Now THAT'S a mind trip.
I can't stop laughing at your post. I have all these weird images in my head after reading it.
