I'm bored reading religious arguments in a FIRST WORLD PROBLEMS thread.

    stop it.

Terrible things happen to good people every day.
Consequentially, I am not one of the good people.
I am one of the terrible things.

Not necessarily. Often times, being religious seems to make people feel justified in being:
discriminating, illogical, hateful, single-minded, presumptuous, contemptuous, stubborn, superstitious, assumptious, incurious, blindly faithful, blindly skeptical, judgmental, biased, authoritarian, submissive, imposing, suppressive, conformist, hypersensitive, self-decepting, and denying.
Violence, conflict, oppression, discrimination, etc. has happened many times in history as a result of religious differences. To list some examples:

    - historic and long-term anti-Judaic and anti-Semitic persecution
    - 'witch-hunting'
    - Native American genocide
    - and many other recent examples

And not only that, there are several examples in the Bible that encourage violence, murder, and slavery. More specifically, God supposedly ordered four major genocides, several passages from the Bible advocate violence and genocide, and some excerpts from the Bible support slavery.

So, I think it is evident that this stuff will happen regardless.

I'm not denying any of this, save for the idea that it all stems from religion. atheists can be just as cruel as religious individuals

I was getting a salad today, and there is, invariably, some person in the line making ridiculously intricate Starbucks-like demands of the poor minimum-wage salad person. I would have smacked today's Salad Tyrant, but there were cops present.

Expensive toys that don't get used make me sad.

For sale: beloved synthesiser. Unfortunately, over time we have drifted apart and no longer spend enough quality time together. Will betroth only to a good home.
