    I would say intuition over instinct, at least for myself, with intuition being the ability to see the end result without laboriously going through every logical step. Emotions need not be involved at all. We all do this, especially Ni dom/aux.

    I think I deciphered the issue. It's simple. When you have enough data or experience on something, say cars, for example, you take much less time to decide, since you have already thought a lot about it in your free time. Not that everybody that makes quick decisions are ''qualified'' to make quick decisions, but the number of people that are ''qualified'' are enough to make the proportion between good/bad decisions favor the one that makes quick decisions. OTOH, when you don't have experience, like when you just started driving, your decisions tend to be slower. Your decisions are gonna be slower, and probably not as effective.
