But yeah, other than that, most Sci-Fi bores me, with the exception of a few of Jeff Noon's cyber-punk novels
You like cyber-punk but you don't like the seminal cyber-punk work? Without Blade Runner there would be no cyber-punk.

Ah, okay then. I guess I missed the hyperbole.

    ...Orwell and Pratchett are sci-fi?

    I don't like it. I just don't.

I'm not pretentious. I don't have to like something. Anything. I don't have to dislike anything, either.

I like Jeff Noon. I didn't say I liked all cyberpunk.

Seems to me you hate science fiction because you hate your own preconceived notions about what science fiction is.

If you like cyber-punk, any cyber-punk at all, then you like science fiction.

So much for a nice little spot for people to bitch about something they don't care for. I had no idea the PC police would swarm a genre thread.

1984 is technically sci-fi, I think, but that's not its main intention.

Pratchett is either ironic fantasy, or Swiftian satire, depending on which books.

Yeah fantasy and sci-fi often bleed together in my mind, because I care for neither genre very much. I can't get into The Hobbit nor Dune in equal measure.

I like Agatha Christie, for example, because I like her "world." Jeff Noon's "world" is also interesting to me. If I feel bored or annoyed or any other negative feelings about the basic WORLD and ATMOSPHERE of the book (or movie) I'm not gonna want to watch it.

Just like some people are like "omgz slasher films no never." Does that mean all slasher films are crap? No, actually they're not.

I can't believe how defensive some of these people in this thread are about sci-fi. I mean it seems almost like the sci-fi fans want to bully anyone who doesn't like what they do. It's outrageous. I thought I was creating this thread for the minority to express their feelings about subjectively disliking sci-fi, not for the majority to start a riot.

You knowingly brought criticism on yourself:

I think you people are out of your minds, I'm really starting to think some of you are fucking crazy.
