As long as your roommates keep those habits you are fucked.

    Short of moving

See, you could hire an exterminator or set traps, but unless you change the hygiene/sanitation habits blech.

One of my old group houses started getting a little bit hoard-y after I left. I crashed on the couch once and thought someone was trying to break in through the window. I kept jumping out of bed and even grabbed a knife from the kitchen and flipped on the lights and looked out etc. etc. etc. Finally I realized the noise was coming from inside the room - there was a mouse digging a nest somewhere amongst a pile of old newspapers or something. I think I just went back to bed. Don't look at me like that. I was tired. And young.

Poor kitty. Make sure there are adequate holes in the gift box, along with some kibble and fresh water.

Trust me, these days I'm fully versed on the transporting of kittens abroad.

I just get a bunch of traps and kill them. Set a bunch of glue traps around the roommate's food, so when they come back they have dead rats on glue traps all around their food.

Stop riding the roommates. Say instead, "Thanks guys! I wanted to catch all those rats, and your left-over food was the perfect bait."

Right now I have a cat. If you a bug, frog or anything gets into the apartment, and it will be dead. I think he dreams of murdering small animals all day.

    Oh. Em. Gee.

I dropped by today to pick up something I'd left there last night (still won't sleep there until an exterminator comes by), and. . .

The garage door was open. Crusty pizza boxes open and strewed across the stove. The bathroom door open, with the sink absolutely flooded.

Mind you, this is after I told them not to do so constantly. This is despite of the written notices. This is after I told them about the rats, bringing one of my roommates to hysterics.

IDK what else to say now, except

    Are you fucking STUPID??

And of course, none of the exterminators called except for one that is bullshittedly "unlicensed" in my city. Understandable though, since it is the weekend. Ok enough is enough, I'm adopting a fuckin cat. Once I move the fuck out, I'll give it away.

I can't believe you can even stand to live there in those conditions. You really can't move anywhere else? Are you that broke?

    Poor kitteh.

I've only been there for 2 months. I'm not broke, just cheap. I don't mind noisy roommates or even people using my shit without permission, etc. But vermin is where I draw the line. So, I'm biting the bullet and seeking a better place. They're subletting to me, so they just need to find some sucker to replace me and finish the goddamn lease.

    I don't like pesticides.

I like to use brute force; more environmentally friendly and it's good for my respiratory system.

I've only killed insects; never killed rats but cleaning up would be a good way to start. Maybe to scare your roommates you should take pictures of the rats and roaches, or did what Khloé did, make more chaos in the house to see whether they would freak out in the mess.
