For me, it's an entirely cyclical experience; Some days I'm thoroughly bored with everything, myself included, and I feel mentally sluggish and burned out, whereas other times my proverbial cut runneth over with creative fluids. It's the dull times that create the reference point needed to allow you to interpret those interesting moments as such. If you were constantly interested(interesting) and engaged(engaging), it would diminish their value.

Honestly, I don't get this notion of "bored with oneself". Just do something else. Dig for gold in a well of possibilities outside yourself. Damn, what you get bored of beating your meat or what? Just sitting there in the swamp of your own sinking manure isn't so boring it's exciting enough? I mean, when did we lose the vision of imagination? It's corny, but at best it keeps you from being divided from the rest of the world and whithering away like some naval-gazing leper.

Hm.. People talking about outward boredom. I didn't think that this was about. I was thinking about boredom of the mental script. I'm never outwardly bored, personally. There is always something to do. It's just that then your mind is your mind, not somebody elses'. So it tends to have similar reactions to outward events, when it would be fun to have someone completely different in your head.

I can get bored with what I'm doing... but I'm never bored with myself. If nothing else I can always compartmentalize a part of my mind and run an experiment.
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups

The wise words of Harvey Danger:
"If you're bored, then you're boring."
Masquerading as a normal person day after day is exhausting.

Sorry if this seems a bit confusing, I am slightly tired.
Of course you shouldn't believe everything you read, rather you might look for corroboration, say by typing, "psychological repression", into Google.

On the other hand you might regard this as a conversation so that when someone says something new or interesting then you reply with something new or interesting and so keep the conversation going.

I don't get bored with myself; I get bored with everyone else. I think that's your problem too but you're too polite to acknowledge it directly.
Just look at some of the inane responses to your thread(s). People talk in cliches. You will them, desparately, to be original, insightful, witty, sincere, hell, you'd settle for something that looks like it's conscious, and all you get in response is more of this soul-crushing, mind-numbingly predictable bullshit.

It must be even worse for you because you actually enjoy talking to people.

I was going to say something, but right now...oh I remember.

We could talk about tits. I'm pretty sure that's never boring.
