only if they're intelligent
I like it. Sometimes I will play devil's advocate just to make the person see there are other ways to look at a given matter, but if the person is dumb I don't even bother. Not only my efforts are futile, but I also don't learn anything in return.
A man builds. A parasite asks 'Where is my share?'
A man creates. A parasite says, 'What will the neighbors think?'
A man invents. A parasite says, 'Watch out, or you might tread on the toes of God... '
Intellectual matters? No problem, I'll argue to death and actually the competition makes me feel good. OTOH though, I need either not to care about the person, or to know that he won't get offended.
Emotional matters? Well, it's good when you want to end a relationship. Otherwise either you blow up and likely damage part of the relationship forever, or you bicker and slowly destroy its foundations.
