    Too funny.

Now go back and PM all the folks in this thread to clarify their knowledge of the word and its usage.

I love discussions and debates with select people. People who are focused solely on "winning" don't interest me because the fun lays in the exchanging of ideas and points of view. My goal in these interactions is to learn and to maybe get a glimpse of an idea through someone else's eyes.

Arguing for the sake of conflict doesn't interest me. I usually think these kinds of people are easily bored and require too much external entertainment.

My brother said to me a while ago:
"I get my argumentativeness from you"
and I said: "no, you probably got it from mum"
    him: "no I didn't"
    me: "yeah you did"
    him: "didn't"
    me: "nah, you did"
    ...
    *lols*

Most of the time I argue to remove conflict, and I do it passively so I barely realize I'm doing it, and neither do they .

Urm.... strictly from a genetics POV it would be a touch awkward if he did get his argumentativeness from you.

No, I'm not an arguer. I tend not to see a point in it.

I love debating with people, it circulates my thoughts and helps me see peoples point of view more clearly.

Love love LOVE to debate! And the more people that are involved, the better. In college last year I organised a study group and we approached questions from all of our unique perspectives and then presented our answers/ideas to each other one by one, it was such an exhilarating way to learn. I love hearing other peoples' opinions and learning from that, or trying to figure out the best way to convince them that my point could be valuable, too. :p

I hate conflict though. And tend to avoid it at all costs. So arguments, with all of their emotional connotations and baggage, are a big no-no, personally. That said, I'd probably be better off if I just faced up to it every now and then, or was brave enough to bring up an something that bothers me instead of always letting things go so they become massive issues...
