what did I name my kids:

Ethan and Nyjah. Both after pro skate boarders.
I once named a horse mary elizabeth though. It turned out he was a boy, so my sister renamed him bubba.

My criteria for choosing names would be

    1. should not cause child embarrassment
    2. must be suitable regardless of the life chosen by the child
    3. should not unduly influence child's development
    4. should go ok with my own surname (little tricky given that my surname is very Irish)

I haven't given prospective names a lot of thought though.
    Girl Names
    Solid: Kate, Mary
More doubtful: Victoria (danger of "vicky"), Margaret, Naomi, Jennifer
    Wildcards: Desiree, Jezebel, Eleanor

    Boy Names
    Solid: David, Douglas
    More doubtful: William, Peter, James
    Wildcards: Seamus, Finnegan, Arthur, Oscar

Note: with boy's names I have an additional condition whereby it should conveniently lend itself to matey declensions. Thus "David" can easily become "Dave", "Dave-o" or even "Davy". "Douglas" can become "Doug", "Douggie" and "Doug-o". And so on. This is pretty important because if the name does not readily lend itself to peer-customisation then they'll be forced to come up with an unrelated nickname for your son, which is risky. Of course with "Seamus", "Oscar" and "Finnegan" they'll have so much fun saying it that further alterations should prove unnecessary.

Guess it will be pretty easy to make my parents give you the adoption rights. They are glad, if they get rid of me
