Talking about the metaphorical TABLE just grates on my nerves, because they bother to use a metaphor, but they've never bothered to think of more than one.
Politicians love to wear this phrase out. It's an annoying phrase, plus the way they try to extend the metaphor to be an ongoing theme is also annoying.
