I like my first name but sometimes I wish it was a little more unique. I'll hear random strangers saying my name and I'll mistakenly think they're talking to me. My last name is pretty common too. It isn't as pretty as my first name but its far better than having some really long last name that's difficult to spell or pronounce.

I don't really feel much emotional connection to my name. It just is.

It's been getting better with time, but it was freaky the first year or so... names really get ingrained.
I also wanted to really avoid the social faux pas of responding to the wrong name... that just would be bad...
Heh. Eleven years later... if I'm in just the right state of mind (usually weary or distracted)... and my old name gets barked out... I'll jump to alertness or attention... but it happens only rarely. My old name is quite common, and I am usually surrounded by several people with that name, so I hear it a lot. But most of the time I ignore it. The name seems alien anyway. I think the only reason I respond the way I do at times is that when I was young I was heavily conditioned to be obedient – so a calling of my name would put me into a high-alert mode. It's hard to break that conditioning.

Many times I hear the name called out... and I'm so grateful that it's not me!

And it's easy to love your own name – when you get to pick it out yourself. (^_^)

I like my first and last name. I hate my middle name, though, because it's just a shitty Catholic thing, and it doesn't go well with the other two.

I really like my full name (first, middle, and last). Its got a nice rhythm to it and my first name was actually somewhat rare growing up. Recently its become a more common girl's name.

I shortened my name because I like things simple. Whether I like it when people use my name depends entirely on the tone they use.

I think it used to mean a lot more when you were in a close knitted society. Kind of like John Proctor in The Crucible. "Leave me my name!" that's really all he had at that point. I suppose it could be a point of respect.

I... Don't really care. I am me no matter what my name would be, I believe.

I like my name, but it's a very common one, my first name. I also like nicknames.
