Assume you mean "even when you're not rich", and yeah, they're possible to a degree when you're not rich (obviously travelling the world, eating out, drinking fancy wine etc can have quite a variable cost depending how far you take them). My point was that older people, especially parents, do not necessarily have more income available for these things, even if they make more overall.

I need power because I have a lot of preferences, I like options, and I like to do things my way, not the ways of people who exert intrusive amounts of leverage on me
Everyone has to play the game buddy.

Those older than us have already been there and done it.

That's why they are allowed to exert such leverage.

    Patience.

I had to do this on a regular basis. (The banks charged for cashing in pennies, thus the seeming ridiculousness of the situation. ) 8 cents that they charged on the dollar was 8 cents in gas to me. (Forget an inspection sticker or a registration.) It was hard to afford food at times. I lost a lot of weight. I couldn't think clearly at times, I landed minimum wage jobs(which I agree, is harder to do for kids, but the NEED was there,) until I got my CNA. I had trouble keeping my grades up/showing up to school on time with all the time constraints of working. I couldn't pay bills for two months once while I waited for my student loan money to come in and payed for other stuff with a small paycheck. I developed an anxiety disorder. This is the life of a lot of normal college students. Money is a REALLY big deal!

I wouldn't change it at all when I hear about kids who get frustrated that their parents help out too much and therefore they are under the control of their parents. I wouldn't change it because now I can be grateful for everything that I have acquired myself.
this is exactly my point. your life during college must have been way friggin harder than it is now.

exactly! patience is really hard for me because I'm a lustful ass mutha fucka. right now I'm just trying to bite the bullet, make the right choices and wait for the results to come. freedom and autonomy are something one needs to fight tooth and nail for.

it was a lot harder. I agree with you there.
Just realize that there are many issues that come from being independent and having power over your own life.

    Fact:

If being young sucks, than odds are that being old will suck even more.
