Default When Someone Hooks Their Arm in Yours, How Do You Hold Your Arm?

My ENFJ friend keeps trying to do this to me. And I keep failing and then she gives up after 20 seconds of awkward arm-shifting. I don't want to let her down again.

When someone hooks their arm in mine, I pull my arm close to myself and sometimes hold onto their arm with my other hand as well.

^ Are you asking how to push her away gracefully (let her down easy), or how to hold on?

^^ Could you possibly be overthinking this so curtailing the natural reaction?

How to hold on. I find it really awkward and constantly wonder, "what do I do with this arm?! Just let it hang there? But it's restricted!"

Can anyone find any images where it doesn't look awkward? In my head I always imagine the hand-in-pocket routine but I never have a proper pocket when she does it. So I fidget and she patiently waits for me to get comfortable. BUt it doesn't come. And then she shoves me to the side and teases me and laughs.

Ok, no one laugh. I'm taking the hook to be the one providing the arm (usually the guy), and the hookee as the hanger on (usually the girl).

The closed hook: Where the hook has a pocket, so the arm is tucked down and forms a curve. And the hookee closes an entire loop so you have an interlocking chain effect.

Open hook: Where the hook just allows his hand to hang down naturally, the pull of the hookee on the curve of the arm/elbow would create that curve, so the hand ends up about hip level. You get the same effect if you carry a clutch purse/ hand bag on the elbow? The hookee basically leaves more freedom for the hook's arm to swing, by not closing it.

And the friend hook! The hook (wearing the rafting sweatshirt) basically lets his hands hang down all the way, in doing so, tightens the loop, so the hookee's arm is drawn into his side and the pair is hence closer. Not good for walking around poles with though.
