Or perhaps they gave you a rep because the rep would appear in their CP. What would make a direct link to the post they want to keep an eye over longer periods of time. I thought that that everybody know that trick.

Thought this too and wondered if I should say something but chose not to.

Wouldn't it be easier to subscribe to the thread?

I dont know since I am not doing this.
However since it is a direct link I am not sure why would subscribing be a better solution. (I am not using that option either)

You get notifications and emails when new posts happen, if set it up that way so you can be lazy. Reps are passive which forces you to go back to them, if you remember that is.

generally don't care how old the post is; reps are typically welcome

negative reps on old posts would just piss me off, though, because the content of the post probably isn't something I even believe anymore

But what if they chose the "I disapprove" option?

I wonder if the disconnect between you and Antisocial Dude is that he's talking about keeping a link to a specific post around for reference, and you're talking about keeping tabs on the progress of the thread that a particular post happens to be a part of. If that's the case, then you're both right! Congratulations.

I like Jenaphor's frequent "I love you Lark" reps. Shucks.

Huh, what's that got to do with our convo? We're just exchanging ideas.

To clarify, I honestly don't recall sending you a rep especially since I don't send negative reps. It's possible when first joined, I might have sent you one positive rep but most definitely, love wouldn't have been part of it.

I don't see why "old " figures into the equation. A rep is a rep to me, regardless of age.
All reps are welcome except the kind I got from an old permabanned member:

"Get hit by a milk truck."

Gee, do you think he liked me?
