Respect. I guess I view being liked as more superficial and having somebody's respect more substantial. You can like somebody but there might not be anything other than just basic respect. It's different from having a deep and meaningful connection with somebody through the kind of respect that takes something more to develop.

The question is, can you truely like someone who you don't respect in some way at least?

I voted respected, because that is my preference of the two.. but I really like both for many reasons.

Can go out and ask people this question and then take the opposite of what they've said for truth. You then already know a lot about them.

Well put. This exactly describes my thoughts on the matter.

Looks like no one has voted for "liked" yet.

Arg.. I don't like that question. Both. It doesn't bother me if it's not from the same people. I don't believe, though, that I could accept any kind of 'liking' without respect. How can you truly like someone without having some element of respect involved?

I behave as if respect is the goal, but sometimes having people genuinely like and care about you is a better feeling. I really want both.

I want both, honestly; but I answered the question by asking myself, "Would I rather be respected but disliked, or liked while not being respected?"

I'd rather have the respect overall; I know people here at work who I think are nice people but are considered to be a joke in terms of their work, and that's not how I want to be seen.
