Sorry, I still don't really get it. Do you mean how it is hard to see yourself in someone else because you are self referential. Or meta (I just learnt that word, it's my word for the day)

I think maybe she means (and she can correct me if I'm wrong) that Fe is more likely to have a full-on "role model" and Fi is more like "I admire or relate to this individual."

I'm not saying I necessarily agree, but it could be possible, I suppose.

To be proud of other individuals of the same type, might relate to external measures of self (Fe). The net statement would read "My traits are the same as yours and look what you've accomplished!" with underlying implications of "hence maybe it's possible for me to accomplish too".

Where perhaps a Fi driven net statement might read closer to "you are you and I am me".

I don't aspire to be like any of the people I've listed, though I do have considerable admiration for Henry Miller's work, and I find him to be inspiring in some ways (and repellent in others).

The people I listed are ENFPs that I like, as opposed to ENFPs I don't like or am indifferent to. And of course, I like that there are ENFP writers since being a writer seems to be stereotypically associated with INFPs, INFJs, and ISFJs for some reason. Extroverts don't get to be writers? Then how does one explain Ernest Hemingway (ESTP)?

I wonder if anyone in this thread - whether they have Fe or Fi - really aspire to be like any particular individual on their list. The word role model would imply designing either your moral code or planning your life to follow in the foot steps of that person, n'est-ce pas?

I've read something about Fe users wanting to be more like someone they admire, while Fi users attempt to embody said person's virtues - what s/he represents. That info's from Vicky Jo Varner, so make of that what you will.

Her description reminds me of that gag on The Fairly OddParents - "I'm not Veronica! I'M TRIXIE! *puts on wig*"
