Default Fluff and blogs (the hottest threads)

Has anyone noticed that over 95% of the 200 'hottest threads' (by post count), happen to either be fluff or blogs? The few that appear to be based around serious discussion are primarily in the Relationship forum.

Now I'm not suggesting that this is a bad thing. Nor am I suggesting that blogs are primarily fluff (blogs are mostly fluff). But merely creating awareness for perhaps a minority (mostly INTPs) who think that the purpose of an internet forum is to have in depth intellectual discussions.

What this forum demonstrates is that most types (INTPs included) are in fact very good at small talk.

Do you feel that there is not enough serious discussion on this forum, or that the levels are 'just right'?

I'm not serious and I like fluff, so more seriousness would be a disaster for me. Even in serious discussions I'm not serious, but people still take me seriously. I wish they didn't.
I was sitting outside the classroom waiting to go in, and I saw an airplane hit the tower. The TV was obviously on. I used to fly myself and I said, "There's one terrible pilot."

If you don't agree about my MBTI type, you can complain about it here. I've had plenty of people telling me I'm something else, in my reputation box. That's annoying.

I do most of my posting at work, so I don't usually have the time or focus for serious online discussions. The exception would be my blog, which I think is more non-fluff than fluff, since that I where I tend to really get in depth about things that are on my mind.

Also, a lot of serious discussion centers around topics that can easily become heated and hostile, which I try to avoid. I have enough bad feelings in my days from annoying interactions with people IRL without an internet forum adding to them!
Masquerading as a normal person day after day is exhausting.

There's plenty enough SRS discussion on here for me. It makes sense that the top threads by post count would be the ones in which posts tend to be very short and quick (fluff) or the ones that continue for a long period of time and cover multiple subjects (blogs). That doesn't mean these are the focus of the forum or that people spend more time here, just that they have shorter and more numerous posts rather than longer and fewer ones.

Fluff does not necessarily mean small talk. It just means fluff. And honestly, one man's fluff does not mean it's every man's fluff.

For instance, I have difficulty being serious most of the time. I enjoy "fluff" threads cause I can be un-serious and no one cares. Deep, intellectual conversations are great and a nice breath of fresh air from what I usually get, but when people start to take them (and themselves) too seriously, I get pretty bored and irritated quickly. There are some things to be serious about in life and an online thread is not one of them.

That's how I look at it anyway. It's no one's fault but my own, but it might explain why those sorts of threads aren't more popular.

I like a balance between serious and not so serious. Some of the discussions get too heated for my liking and just go on and on. I usually end up not reading it anymore at this point. I sometimes wish there were more discussions related to personality typing. It's why I joined the forum in the first place. It seems like ironically the longest threads are on non type related things even though this is a typology forum. Maybe alot of people here are sick of typology and are mostly in it for the relationships and the banter?

Why fluff and blogs are probably more appealing than in depth intellectual discussions, as shown by pictures:

    Guilty!

I like it here. The people are interesting and fun and there always seems to be something to do. But I don't usually visit the MBTI parts anymore. Just kind of tired of it.
