as long as nobody necros my intro thread (I've had that happen twice!) then I don't care... it's better than having 50 threads about the same damned thing cluttering up the forum

It's annoying when someone bumps a four-year-old thread with a reply to a specific poster and seem to assume that the poster held the same opinion they did four years ago and is still primed to debate the topic. Those posters are often not even around anymore.

Otherwise, I don't care. It jumpstarts some neat discussions when people have new ideas on old topics.

Sometimes, long threads can be annoying if there's been a conversation between a few posters for several pages and it's impossible to determine how the conversation evolved, but reviving old long threads can breathe new life into what the topic was really about.

Depends on the content, I like to revive old fluff zone type threads and other the fun threads. But if its serious or about something personal from a long time ago not so much.

But trolls get banned and all their posts auto-deleted so it drops the necro-posted thread back where it belongs.

Not without stirring up trouble before that. People would start posting in the thread again so it's in people's faces again. It takes a while for it to settle again.

It's ok when it's a topic I want to respond to.

I quite like it. I've never really understood why people dislike it. I like that nothing really dies on the internet. Perhaps it offends people's desire for things to be resolved?
