Oh no...they'd know my plans...they'd do the kidnapping in a bomb defusal suit and kevlar vest.

Yeah if they hire the cast of the new jersey shore.... Hehe!

As to your other post... It wouldn't be bad per se...but:

If I knew someone was going to kidnap my loved one, I would be hopping mad and I would want vengeance. Now maybe this parrticular loved one thinks, no harm no foul and wants to release them into the wild. But I want vengeance minority report style... So maybe I travel back to just after they have been kidnapped.... Hmmm

Handle it on my own, especially if I have savings like that. There's better organisations than the police.

You have a little over $100,000 in savings, so getting the money is possible. You’re instincts on whether or not they’ll keep their end of the bargain is at about 50/50.

    So my question is:

Would you get the police involved or handle it on your own?
I'm assuming that my loved ones are dead.

And I'm going to kill the loved ones of the kidnappers. Then the kidnappers.

I dunno, the screwball comedy genre was pretty much killed by Hudson Hawk.

Also, I'd like to describe this thread as "derailed", but it's more like one of Carmen Sandiego's henchpeople snatched it and Lynne Thigpen wants us gumshoes to retrieve it.

Juice, you're determined to put people into impossible situations!

I'd call the cops. The money itself isn't the issue. It's the ethics of the kidnapping and profiting from predatory behaviour. No go.
