You are hard to fit into an anime profile. The Fi-dom characters are usually too innocent/naive. I'm not implying anything!

All of the anime characters blend together and start looking exactly alike.

If I'm part of the problem, cascadeco, I apologize. To be frank, I don't know that many series, I'm mostly reading manga now at a glacial pace due to being in a university and having some mild anxiety issues.

Technically, Avatar was Western-made, though it did use the Eastern style extensively, or so I've heard. What you said can easily be applied to animation in general, but we Westerners are still kinda stuck in the "animation is either for kids or full of vulgar, crude humor" quagmire.

I don't watch much anime anymore. My ex was very into that and marital arts films since he was into karate/tai chi/akido.

I did love the Neon Genesis series, the Kenshin OVAs are SOOO sad, and this one anime who's name escapes me... Gallactic Empire? (It's sad I can't remember the name when it was one of my favorites. Want to purchase: detail oriented mind, please send PM.)

You are right, there seems to be a taboo element there.

I'm not sure "taboo" is he right word. It's all a matter of taste and what you like. Generally, I don't anime avatars - especially the ones with the big eyes - but that's just a personal preference. I like yours however.
